CLI

Humaan CLI manages robot recordings locally. Use it to initialize projects, import experiences, inspect and verify artifacts, and export original files. These operations require no cloud account or local server.

Install from Source

Install a Rust toolchain that supports the repository's Rust 2024 crates. From the repository root, run:

cargo install --path apps/cli --locked
humaan --version
humaan --help

Ensure Cargo's binary directory is on your PATH.

Create a Project and Import Data

mkdir warehouse-robot
cd warehouse-robot
humaan project init "Warehouse Robot"
humaan project show
humaan import /path/to/recording
humaan list

Replace the import path with a Humaan recording directory or a complete LeRobot v3.0 dataset. Initialization writes .humaan/project.json in the current folder. Recording commands discover the nearest project and use its .humaan/recordings store. Without project metadata, the store defaults to the current directory's .humaan/recordings folder.

Command Reference

CommandResponsibility
humaan project init NAMEInitialize the current directory without replacing an existing project manifest.
humaan project showDisplay the nearest project's identity and root directory.
humaan import SOURCEImport supported recordings and verify their declared artifacts.
humaan listList experiences and verify their artifacts.
humaan inspect IDInspect one experience and verify its artifacts.
humaan verifyReport per-entry verification results, including damaged recordings.
humaan export ID DESTINATIONCopy an experience into a new destination directory.

Use the experience ID returned by import or list for ID, rather than the project UUID. Export takes the exact destination directory to create:

humaan inspect EXPERIENCE_ID --json
humaan verify --json
humaan export EXPERIENCE_ID ./exported-recording

Existing import IDs and export destinations are never overwritten. list reads artifact payloads for verification; use verify when damaged entries prevent a complete listing.

Global Options

OptionBehavior
--jsonEmit machine-readable command results on stdout.
--store PATHOverride recording storage for recording commands. Project commands ignore it.
--helpShow command usage.
--versionShow the installed CLI version.

Interactive recording operations show an activity indicator. JSON mode disables it; progress animation is also disabled when stderr is redirected.

Exit Codes and Automation

CodeMeaning
0Command succeeded; for verification, all entries passed, including an empty store.
1Operation failed, or verification found one or more invalid entries.
2Command-line argument parsing failed.

Errors are written to stderr. Verification can emit a JSON results array and exit with code 1 when individual entries fail. Treat that output as a report rather than discarding it. See API for result shapes.
