Core concepts

Humaan connects a versioned robot definition to learning work and its evidence. The platform workflow is Experience → Loops → Runs → Results.

ConceptMeaning
ProjectA local workspace with a stable identity and related robot and learning data.
ModuleA reusable robot assembly or component.
EmbodimentThe complete robot configuration, including geometry, joints, physical properties, and configured interfaces. Builder saves robot versions.
ExperienceA learning context that brings together tasks, datasets, evaluations, and Loops.
LoopAn improvement cycle within an Experience.
TaskThe objective and criteria used to evaluate behavior. Current training supports joint-reaching tasks.
ExperimentA pinned robot snapshot, environment, task, and training configuration.
RunAn execution of an experiment, preserving configuration and results.
RecordingOriginal artifacts and a manifest describing a recorded attempt.
ReviewA revisioned human judgment about outcome, assistance, and review state.
Learning setAn immutable selection of recordings with reasons and pinned review evidence.
PolicyA controller or model with provenance and evaluation evidence. The current registry supports joint-feedback controllers.

Experience and recording terminology

Existing recording formats and some recording interfaces use “experience” for an individual recorded attempt, including its experience ID. This is distinct from the learning context selected in Training experiments. These docs do not rename fields or change existing format contracts.

Traceability and current boundaries

Saved experiments pin their inputs, and registered policies preserve their source run. Recording reviews and learning sets preserve curation evidence separately from original artifacts.

Dataset preparation exports data for an external learning workflow; the current CEM trainer does not consume learning sets. A local policy assignment records a selection, without executing it on hardware. Automatic deployment feedback into the next Loop remains planned.
