Working with Projects
A Humaan project brings robot experiences and learning work into one local folder. Its identity stays the same when you move the folder, so saved learning sets can retain their connection to the project that created them.
Create a Project
In Humaan Studio, choose Create New on the welcome screen or File → New Project…. Choose a name and parent directory. Studio creates a new project folder; open an existing folder rather than reusing it during creation.
With the CLI installed, initialize a directory:
mkdir warehouse-robot
cd warehouse-robot
humaan project init "Warehouse Robot"
humaan project show
Initialization writes .humaan/project.json in the current directory and preserves
existing recordings. It refuses to overwrite an existing project manifest.
Open a Project
Choose Open Project or File → Open… in Studio and select the project
folder. In the CLI, run commands from the project directory or one of its
subdirectories. Project discovery searches upward for the nearest
.humaan/project.json. Invalid metadata produces an error instead of falling
back to another project.
Recording commands use the discovered project's .humaan/recordings directory.
Without a project, they use .humaan/recordings under the current directory.
The CLI's --store option overrides the recording store, but does not change
project identity or the project commands.
Follow the Learning Loop
Import recordings to preserve what the robot observed and did. Review outcomes and human assistance, then create a learning set with reasons for each selection. A saved learning set pins its selected review revisions and recording manifests; later reviews do not change that evidence.
See Project structure for storage locations and Project schema for the identity contract. Recording and learning-set formats have separate versions from the project manifest.
Share a Project
Copy the project folder, including .humaan, to retain its identity and local
data. The leading dot makes this directory hidden in many file browsers.
Copy while no Humaan process is writing to the project.
For sharing selected experiences, use a full learning-set export. It includes the set and selected recordings. A manifest-only export contains references and review snapshots, without recording artifacts.
Version control can track project identity and small configuration files. Choose
an explicit storage policy for recordings and checkpoints, which can be large.
Do not ignore all of .humaan: it contains original recordings and saved learning
evidence as well as generated metadata. Keep credentials outside shared files.
